March 30th, 2011Two weekends ago we hosted a two-day Passion International Photography Competition held at The Salon Professional Academy here in Tampa. We want to thank all the salon owners, hair designers, makeup artists, assistants and models who participated, we sincerely appreciate all your support and shared creativity.
With the help of everyone, we shot 134 models with 11 participating salons and The Salon Professional Academy. Many of our models even had second looks. We want to share a few special thank you notes with the first one going to Joe and Tonya Goodrich of the Euphoria Salon, who with their team shared 19 terrific models. We also want to share an extra special thank you to Joanne Powers and Kathy Costa of The Salon Professional Academy. We could not have asked for a better co-host location. Opening up your fabulous cosmetology school for us, Passion and our salon friends for this event was also most appreciated and gracious. Your students were terrific as hair designers and models. You could not have done any more for us.
Although 9 months is far from now we look forward to receiving our Passion outtake photographs which we will share with everyone when the time comes. In the meantime check out some behind the scenes photos taken during the two-day photography sessions.

Trend Alert: Fringe Bangs

Taylor Swift pushed open the door for the new “Full On” bangs craze at the 2010 American Music Awards. Full on bangs are a heavy fringe look that can accentuate anyone’s eyes.
THREE TYPES OF FRINGE:
- The “Full On” bang is very heavy bangs, which could either be a precise straight line fringe or can have a little textured fringe. Both will frame and show off anyone’s eyes.
- The “Wispy” bang is a light and subtle fringe. This bang is great for anyone looking for a way to disguise their forehead lines. It’s an inexpensive way to hide these lines without the Botox!
- The “Choppy” bang is for a more modern style. This type of fringe will give any modern style a more edgy and dramatic look.

Depending on the fringe type it will give anyone a more youthful look, taking up to 10 years off of some people.

February 18th, 2011Hair and makeup professionals from across the nation are invited to compete for a chance to be featured in Passion’s Stylebooks for Haircolor and Men at Michael Angelo Hair Studio in Tampa, FL. “Many of our salon clients are eager to compete for a spot as a model in the upcoming new Haircolor and Men’s editions. We are very proud of this important international media honor,” said Michael Angelo Hair Studio owner, Michael Angelo Rizzi. The two-day competition starts on March 20 and will be co-hosted by The Salon Professional Academy of Tampa. Over 100 local male and female clients as well as professional models will participate in the competition and receive a free makeover from one of many competing stylists from salons in the area. Finished models will get makeup and wardrobe to match their hair before renowned photographer Tom Carson photographs the look. Winners of the competition will have their hair design published in 2011 and 2012 stylebooks. June 10th, 2010Michael Angelo offers 10 Tips to Pamper Your Color-Treated Hair on A Girl’s Gotta Spa! blog. They’ve recently been listed as one of the Top 50 Beauty Blogs by Konector and as one of the Top 9 Beauty Blogs by Beauty Store Business Magazine.
Here are some of those tips:
- Tip 1: Trim your hair every four to six weeks to remove split ends and to help make your hair more manageable. A great haircut is the best foundation for keeping your hair healthy and looking its best.
- Tip 2: Use a shampoo specifically formulated for haircolor treated hair. If you must wash your hair every day, shampoo only once. When you shampoo, avoid tugging your hair and wash gently. Rinse thoroughly to remove all traces of shampoo. Michael Angelo recommends products like Mane-Tain Shampoo by Michael Angelo Masterpiece Haircare.
